The Green Johanna is the premiere insulated compost bin on the planet. The high levels of heat that are generated at the center of the pile combined with an innovative ventilation system ensure that virtually all kitchen scraps are effectively decomposed. Can be used year-round, even in cold climates if the winter insulation jacket is installed. Vermin resistant and family friendly. Designed and developed in Sweden for year-round use.

The WINTER INSULATION JACKET is highly recommended for all regions that experience cold winters - install when temps commonly dip below 40°F in Fall and remove when they begin to exceed 50°F in the Spring. Leaving it on indefinitely can negatively impact the beneficial decomposers by overheating the active pile. Finished compost is not accessible via bottom doors with winter jacket installed

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Though it has a bottom, we recommend placing it on a permeable surface like grass, mulch or gravel
To extend the lifespan of the unit, try to avoid placement in all-day, full sun, as UV can be brutal over time.
Churn your pile once per week and harvest the compost at least once per year.
